Appreciating the soundscape and sound design is something I like to do, especially more so when it amplifies the scene in hand. However, I really like paying attention to the BGM. Well, music is as subjective as viewing preferences can get. So how much do you care for anime music outside of the OP and ED? The only times I ever enjoyed an anime's BGM are Jojo, especially the new theme they use when someone does something awesome (whatever it's called, it's also used for commercial breaks), and SnK during certain pivotal moments. I only know the latter composer from Shield Hero, but it doesn't sound all that impressive to me. But every now and then I hear people talk about the composer for SAO or Made in Abyss and say that they're music is amazing.
I personally have never paid attention to BGM in anime, mainly because nothing in it even sticks out for me.
